What it says

Prints the colony’s lists of credits, impressments and the Narragansett grantees. “In the list of killed appear two Samuel Taylors. In the credits is found Samuel Tiler. In a list of men impressed at Rowley, Nov. 29,1675, I find Samuel Tiller.” (pp. 156-157). Samuel Tyler’s pay credit of 24 Mar 1675/6. Narragansett No. 3, Andover: Samuel Tyler, claimant “Ebenezer, son” (p. 422).

For Capt. John Holbrook of Weymouth (pp. 270, 280-282; archive.org also https://archive.org/details/soldiersinkingph00bodg_0), printing Mass. Archives 68:239 and 69:12: on 27 April 1676 the colony raised “three [companies] of foot under Capts. Sill, Cutler and Holbrook”; his letter from Concord, 29 April 1676: “this Day have mustered my Company … which are but very Small which is a great Discouragement to me … I have neither Drume nor Collors”; his certificate that he was “ordered to take 82 men under my Command together with 28 horses & 14 men to tend them,” drawn from Boston, Roxbury, Dorchester, Dedham, Braintree, Weymouth and Hingham, signed “John Holbrooke Capt.” In 1664, as lieutenant, he was chosen to serve under Capt. Hudson, “but his wife and family being sick at the time” another man went. Bodge’s verdict: “Capt. Holbrooke was a very enterprising man of business, and his real estate operations were quite extensive for his day. He was also prominent in military affairs” (p. 280). Bodge gives his death as 28 Nov 1699; Vinton, from the gravestone, 23 Nov.

For the Ellingwood line (research/ellingwood/Ellingwood_Woodbury_Rand.md): among the dead “At Muddy-Brook bridge ye 18 Sept.” 1675, with Capt. Lathrop, Peter Woodberry and Josiah Dodge (pp. 136-137); “Robert Rand 01 10 00,” credited under Capt. Samuel Brocklebank, 24 Mar 1675/6 (p. 207); “A List of Capt. William Turner’s men as they came from Boston and taken at Medfield 1675-6 … Richard Cheevers” (p. 239) and “Richard Cheever 03 12 10,” credited 24 June 1676 (p. 244); and the 1733 list of Narragansett grantees for Lynn, a soldier “— Rand” with “Robert Rand, son” as claimant (p. 422).

Narragansett Township No. 1 (now Buxton, Maine), granted 1733 to soldiers of the 1675-76 war and their heirs: “Low, Thomas,” claimant “Jon[athan]. Low” (p. 415). Jonathan was Deacon Thomas Low’s son, so the soldier was probably Deacon Thomas or his eldest son Thomas (b. 1661).
