William Frost
Founder of the Frost family of Oyster Bay, Long Island: at Southold by 1655, then at Setauket, where in 1659 he signed the petition to come under Connecticut's government, and from 1674 holder of the Matinecock farm, which stayed in the family for more than two centuries. Not a Quaker himself, he seized ten acres for taxes as collector in 1693. Probably the father of the younger William Frost.

Notes
William Frost of Oyster Bay, the founder of the family in Josephine Frost’s Frost Genealogy. At Southold by 1655 with a brother John, then of Setauket, where in 1659 he signed the petition asking that “Cromwell Bay alias Setauke” be taken under Connecticut’s government, with John Underhill and James Cock. On 14 Dec 1674 William Simson assigned him his Matinecock farm, bought from the Matinecock Indians in 1667, for a bond of £70 “in Indian Coren at three shillings ꝑ bushell, or in Cattel” (record); it stayed in the family until a few years before 1912. Not a Quaker himself: in 1693, as collector, he seized ten acres for taxes. He died in 1719.
