Notes

Of Claydon, in Goldthwaite’s pedigree. His will, dated 12 Dec 1610, begins “I William Borman of Cleydon in the Countie of Oxford husbandman sicke in bodye.” He left “to the repayre of the church in Cleydon thre shillings & foure pence,” 6d. apiece to eight named poor men, and 6d. to each of seven godchildren, plus “one shepe” to his godson William Borman. Goldthwaite (pp. 87-88) says his inventory, taken on the day of his burial, shows “comfortable circumstances,” and that “His occupation seems to have been exclusively husbandry.” The will was written by William Sanderson, curate of Claydon for at least 38 years.
