Will dated 3 Apr 1576, proved 2 May 1580. His inventory is dated 4 Jan 1579/80, so he had died by then. The register's burial entry, "Dec. 9, 1580," was written years later and its year is evidently wrong (Goldthwaite).

Notes

“The elder,” of Claydon, in Goldthwaite’s pedigree; the name distinguished him from a younger brother Thomas, probably of Cropredy. His will was witnessed by Christopher Poley, who signed himself “Curate and writer herof.”

His inventory of 4 Jan 1579/80 shows a farm with “a horse, two cows, three heifers, and sixty pigs.” It lists tools (“augers, saws, adze”) and “the bedstede I made myself,” which Goldthwaite takes as a sign of woodworking skill, “possibly … that of a cooper” (p. 83).
