Also Lydia Woodworth

Wife of Lemuel Woodworth and probably the mother of Nancy (Woodworth) Fairchild. In 1806 she, her husband and her brother Matthew Winter, who had married Lemuel's sister Anna, came with their families from Scott's Patent and settled at East Jewett, Greene County, New York. Notes

Wife of Lemuel Woodworth and mother of Nancy (Woodworth) Fairchild. Their stone, as the East Kill Valley Genealogy prints it: “LEMUEL WOODWORTH b. 1778 d. 1845 / Lydia Winter, his wife, b. 1773 d. 1845 ‘They were lovely and pleasant in this life and in their death [they were not divided]’” (source).

Her brother Matthew Winter (born 21 August 1773, died 3 March 1844) married Lemuel’s sister Anna Woodworth, and in 1806 the two couples “and their families, came from Scott’s Patent, in Schoharie Co. or nearby in Albany Co. and settled in East Jewett.” Matthew and Anna’s daughter Sally, born 1801, “m. Edward Fairchild, son of Jonathan,” so Sally and Lydia’s daughter Nancy, who married Edward’s brother Richard, were double first cousins. Her other brothers, by the same book, were Rogers, David and George; Beers’s early list has “Matthew Winter 11” and “Rogers Winter 5” (source).

The Ancestry tree’s “Lydia Hannah Winter … of New London” has no source behind the middle name or the place, and neither is used.

Open questions

  • Her parents. The East Kill Valley Genealogy: “Matthew was the son of Moses (?) Winter and brother of Lydia (IV 1), Rogers (XII 1), David, and George,” the query mark its own.
  • Her birthplace, and her marriage. Her stone’s birth year is the same as her brother Matthew’s.
