Checked against the records

  • Proven
George W. Cable descends from Samuel Boreman, Thomas's cousin

The novelist's mother, Rebecca Boardman, descended from Samuel Boreman of Wethersfield, son of Christopher Boreman and Julian Carter and first cousin of Thomas Boreman of Ipswich (Goldthwaite, 1895). Their common ancestors are Felix and Margaret Carter of Claydon, so Cable and Harriet Low were roughly seventh cousins.
