Notes
Father of Deborah (Kendall) Cummings, and grandfather of Amos Kendall, Postmaster General under Andrew Jackson. Kith and Kin names Deborah’s parents as “John and Hannah (Whittemore) Kendall” (source). Amos Kendall’s autobiography sets out the family: Francis Kendall of Woburn; his son Jacob; Jacob’s sons John, Ebenezer and Abraham, who “moved to Dunstable about the year 1726. There John had five sons, John, Jacob, Temple, Edward, and Zebedee. John the second had two sons, John and Zebedee. Zebedee, the father of Amos, had nine sons” (source). This John is “John the second.” His daughters married into the Cummings and Wilkins families of West Windsor, Vermont, where his grandson Amos visited them as a student. WikiTree gives his children as John (1749), Hannah (1749), Deborah (1751), Relief (1753), Zebedee (1755) and Alice (1757) (source).
