Notes

First wife of William Briscoe, tailor, of Watford and later Boston. Her maiden name is not known. They married by 1619, and probably by 1617 (NEHGR 178:24).

Nine of her children were baptized at Watford between 1617 and 1632: Thomas (16 Nov 1617, entered only as “Son of Willm brisco”), Daniel (20 Oct 1619), Nathaniel (8 Apr 1621), John (27 Oct 1622), William (24 Oct 1624), Elizabeth (5 Mar 1625/6), Joseph (19 Aug 1627), Benjamin (10 Apr 1629) and Lydia (26 Feb 1631/2), the last eight entered as children of William and Jane. An “infant” and a “child” of William’s were buried there on 19 and 21 June 1630, and her son John was buried there on 1 Feb 1637/8, nine months after her. William married (2) Cicely Deale at Watford that August (NEHGR 178:11, 24-26).
