Notes
Sister of Lt. Matthias Ellis. Her sons were born at Sandwich: “Theophilus Dotey the son of Joseph Doty was borne the 22 of febuary” 1674/5, and “Elles Dotey the son of Joseph Dotey was borne the 16 day of aprill” 1677. In October 1674 her husband was bound over on the accusation of Elizabeth Warren (b. 1654), granddaughter of Richard Warren, that he had got her with child; the outcome is not recorded. Joseph Doty sued with his mother-in-law over the Sepecan lands in 1680. The Doty name touches the family only through such marriages; no one in the line descends from Edward Doty.
