T. F. Waters's history of Ipswich, read in the archive.org full text (vol. 2 at https://archive.org/details/ipswichinmassach02wate). Used for:
- "David Low" among the Ipswich soldiers of the 1690 Phips expedition, and the Ipswich-Canada claims (1:310-312).
- "Tho. Low" signing the 1666 Ipswich petition urging the General Court to make humble application to the King (1:137-139, "The Charter in Peril"); which Thomas is not certain.
- Thomas Low's purchase in 1685 of "two acres with a town way through it, bounded by his own land southerly, by the Common northeast, Goodman Reginald Foster's southeast, and Robert Kinsman's southwest," which "may have been in Chebacco" (1:335-337).
- The 1748 impressment list: "David Low juner was Imprest into his Majesties Service In march, 1748" (vol. 2, about pp. 165-171).
- Thomas Low and Edward Bragg's purchase of a large pasture from Thomas Firman, 1647 (2:721).
For King Philip's War (research/king-philips-war/), vol. 1 ch. XIII, pp. 159-224, read in the scan
https://archive.org/details/ipswichinmassach00water (viewer leaves run 32 ahead of the printed page):
- Gen. Daniel Denison's letter of 30 Nov 1675 on the Ipswich press, naming "Benjamin Newman, Wm Hodgskin, Samuel Taylor" as three "very Lusty young men" who had "absconded" (p. 198), "by the artifice of their parents" (pp. 197-198).
- The slain of Appleton's company at the Narragansett fort, printed as "Samuel Taylor of Ipswich, Isaac Ellery of Gloucester, Daniel Rolfe of Newbury and Samuel Tyler of Rowley" (p. 203). Samuel Tyler of Rowley was alive in 1682; the record's "Samuel Taylor of Rowley" is an error, and Waters's reading of it is wrong.
- The alphabetical list of Ipswich soldiers, from Hull's credits and the 1678 list (pp. 218-224): Joseph Proctor, "Trooper, in Captain Paige's Company, Mt. Hope campaign; credited Sept. 3, 1675. Captain Henchman's Company; credited July 24, 1676"; Joseph Safford of the same troop (p. 223); John Chub (p. 219); a Nathaniel Lord, wages assigned to Ipswich (p. 221). No Thomas Low.
