Unsourced. Gives Mercy Nye, daughter of Benjamin, as the wife of Matthias Ellis, with a list of her children that has several errors (p. 30). Its Biddenden, Kent, pedigree for Benjamin Nye is "almost certainly spurious" (NEHGR 158, 2004). The only source for the death of Benjamin Nye Jr. at Pierce's Fight, 26 Mar 1676, and for the 1670 date of Mary Nye's marriage to Jacob Burge.
For King Philip's War (research/king-philips-war/): its entry "Benjamin, killed by the Indians at the
battle of Rehoboth" is no longer the only source for the younger Benjamin Nye's death. Rev. Noah Newman's
letter from Rehoboth of 27 Mar 1676 names "Sandwich, 5 Slain. Benjamin Nye, Daniel Bessey, Caleb Blake,
John Gibbs, Stephen Wing" among Pierce's dead (Deane, pp. 122-123; Bodge, pp. 359-360; Rehoboth VR, p.
919). That he was the son of Benjamin and Katherine (Tupper) Nye is this book's statement; the only other
Benjamin Nye of Sandwich, the father, lived to 1704.
