Husband of Sybil Sawdy. "Walter Alley" at Hopewell, Ontario County, New York, in 1830; about 1836 at Springfield, Erie County, Pennsylvania; from about 1838 at Jefferson and then Lenox, Ashtabula County, Ohio, where the women of the Western Reserve remembered that "Sybill Sawdy ... was the wife of Walter Allee, who built the first house on the Bunnell farm" (source). He and Sybil both took typhoid in 1862; she died that September, and he wrote to their sons Daniel and Albert, then at Momence, Illinois (a family letter described on WikiTree). He died at Lenox in 1866.
The Ancestry tree had joined him to William Buford Allee (b. 30 Mar 1797, Barren County, Kentucky; d. 25 Sep 1874, Moniteau County, Missouri), with that man's parents, Rev. David Allee and Charity Delila Bybee, and his Missouri family. They are Unrelated and are left out here (Research decisions, 8 October 2026; Patricia Hatten through Sarah Edith Allee: Allee, Sawdy, Soule, Sargent).
In the records the tree attaches (not checked here):
- 1860. Lenox, Ashtabula, Ohio; Occupation: Farmer (record)
Open questions
- His parents are unknown. A WikiTree contributor suggests a William and Sarah Allee of New Rochelle, descended from the Huguenot Jean Allé; nothing supports it yet.
- His birth and death: the 1850 and 1860 census entries and the East Lenox gravestone.
