Eldest son of Major Nathan Low and Rebecca Thompson, named for his mother's father. Hosmer names him first among Major Nathan's sons, and in 1853 he had 32 votes for representative. He married a wife named Abigail. His descendants on Deer Isle kept his grandmother Lucy (Lord) Low Choate's Bible and added their family's entries to it; the compiler of the Deer Isle families typescript calls him "my grandfather."
