Her middle name, Phillips, was also her grandmother Harriet (Low) Holbrook's. Mollie's Holbrook chart has "Alice Holbrook Pfeiffer" (scan 5) and her Low chart "Alice H[...]," struck out and corrected by hand to "Phillips" (scan 95). The Emerson College Magazine announced her as "The Daughter of '98," "a twelve-pound daughter" (Emerson College Magazine, 1896-1904: writings by M. Frances Holbrook and notes on Mrs. Frances Holbrook Pfeiffer).
She went with her mother to Gardnerville, Nevada, in December 1907, lodged with her at East Aurora, New York, in 1910, and graduated in 1917 from the classical department of Huntington Hall, South Pasadena, taking a post-graduate course in agriculture in 1918 (Harvard College Class of 1889, secretary's reports and annual bulletins, 1898-1935: Emil Charles Pfeiffer). In 1920 she was a bookkeeper in Los Angeles. She married Robert Hall Carter in 1921, with her father as witness; in Aug 1922 they gave a trust deed on a lot in Glendale to a trustee for her mother (Los Angeles Times and Glendale Evening News, August 1922: Mrs. Frances H. Pfeiffer). Their son, Warren Holbrook Carter, was born at Los Angeles on 8 Sept 1925 and died at Oak Harbor in 2016 (Whidbey News-Times, 2016: obituary of Warren Holbrook Carter (1925-2016)). She married Harold Franklin Forrester in 1946, and as Mrs. Harold Forrester of Hollywood gave the details on her mother's death certificate in 1954.
