Wife of Lt. Jonathan Chapin of Monson and mother of Jotham Chapin. Her birth is in the Brimfield town records, among the children of Benjamin and Rebekah Mun: Benjamin (1732), Joseph (1734), Abner (1736), Abigail (14 Sept 1739), and later Jeremy (1754) (source). The Chapin Book lists the same family under her father and gives her husband: "Abigail m. 1-4-6-1-1 b. Sept. 14, 1739 ... d. Aug. 30, 1838, age 99" (source).

Her father's mother was Sarah Chapin, a daughter of Japhet Chapin and granddaughter of Deacon Samuel Chapin of Springfield, so through her the family descends from the Deacon whatever the truth about her husband's grandfather. She bore seven children at Monson between 1764 and 1780, outlived her husband by nineteen years, and died there two weeks short of her ninety-ninth birthday ("age 99" in the book).
