What it says
Lists his daughters as “hannah Marcye Jane Mary Elizabeth, Sarah and Judith,” and leaves “to my Daughter Sarah howes my bigest beer bowle.” The date of the will is not recorded in the research notes.
Also printed with the will (MD 3:203-209, https://archive.org/details/mayflowerdescendv3mass): the colony’s record of his death (Plym. Col. B.M.B. p. 39), “a worthy Gentleman very pious; and very able for his office and faithfull in the Discharge therof studious of peace a welwiiler to all that feared god ; and a terrour to the wicked” (3:203); his codicil of 28 March 1673, marked, not signed, “by Reason of the shakeing of his hand, hee Could not write his Name but made those markes,” leaving John Freeman “Speeds Cronicle and Wilsons Dictionary … Simpsons history of the Church and Newmans Concordance”; and his inventory, with “100 of Psalme bookes,” “1 silver Tobacco box” and “1 paire of ffringed Gloves wrought with Gould and silver” (3:205-209). The will names “my Daughter Elizabeth howland.”
