What it says
The register copy, downloaded by Dasloops and transcribed in
research/holbrook/Holbrooke-PCC-Wills-1503-1617.md. Davis (1945) reads the date as
15 March 1616, and a second look at the image (10 Oct 2026) reads “the ffifteent[h] day of
Marche” too [?].
To St Andrew’s, Wells, 6d.; to the church of Queen Charlton, 12d. To “my eldest daughter Jone” £100; to “my sonne Robert” £20; to “my daughter Katherine” £20; to “my daughter Milliard” £20. “Item I give unto William Holbroke the sonne of John Holbrooke my brother deceased one ewe and a lambe.” A sheep apiece to “John, Robert and Thomas the sonnes of John Holbroke,” to “Richard and John the sonnes of Nicholas Holbroke,” and to James Holbrooke. Residue to “Elnor my wife,” sole executrix. Overseers Richard Davies and John Nicholls, clerks, vicar of Compton Dando and minister of Charlton. Signed “Roberte Holbroke.”
