On 19 June 1724 Jeremiah Thomas of Middleborough was made guardian of his grandsons Isaac, Jeremiah and Joseph, minors under fourteen, sons of “Isaac Howland Junr late of middleboro … decd.” On 21 May 1735 Joseph, Jeremiah and Isaac Howland, now over fourteen, chose Mr. Samuel Wood of Middleborough as their guardian, and “Samuel Wood, yeoman, of Middleborough, with Joseph Bennet, Jr., yeoman, also of Middleborough, as surety, gave three bonds of £200 each.” Witnesses Josiah Cotton and John Cushing Jr.
