What it says
Rowland T. Low, “son and heir of Hannah R. Low,” petitioned for leave to sell her Deer Isle land “to pay the debts of the deceased Hannah R Low,” there being “no personal estate in said Deer Isle.” The petition says that Daniel W. Low of Beverly was guardian of the minor children of Joseph E. Low (Henry H., Charles S., Frederic H., Augustus R., Frank S., Grace D., Lucy S. and Joseph E. Lowe, of Beverly), heirs to “one eighth part of said Hannah R Lows estate in said Deer Isle.”
One-eighth shares mean eight living lines of heirs in 1887 (our inference): Harriet, Daniel W., Sarah L., Rowland T., Joseph E.’s children, Laura E., Charlotte A. and Mary E.
