FamilySearch Family Tree: the Low family of Boxford and Deer Isle

The shared online tree, read with its attached sources for the Low master research (6 Oct 2026). Compiled, and used only where nothing better was found: the death years of Major Nathan’s daughters Lucy (1867) and Mary (1833) and the birth of a daughter Jane (1801); William Low (b. 1775)’s death in 1822; Henry C. Low’s death (1862, against 1861 in the Maine index); Joseph E. Low’s death (1885) and Charlotte A. Howard’s (1928); and Crowell H. Sylvester’s parents, first wife’s death (1850) and second marriage (Edith L. Hall, Olympia, 5 May 1879).

Errors to correct there (Low master research, Part Six):

• “Nathan J Low” (KNHT-Q3D) is born at “Dixmont”; he was born at Deer Isle, 24 Mar 1805 (Dixmont is his wife’s birthplace). His death date has no source; “J” is probably “Jr.”
• “Harriet Lowe” (MWTW-9BT), wife of Crowell Hatch Sylvester, with a birth of 1850, is a duplicate of Harriet Phillips Lowe (L75M-Q51).
• On Major Nathan (M684-PQP), the attached Essex probate source is his father’s will (1803).
• Nathan Low of Boxford (KG9S-Y7Q): son Daniel “1772-1772” was living in 1803; son Caleb was born 24 Dec 1767; the marriage on “25 Oct 1764” is probably the intention (married 17 Jan 1765).
