What it says

Found on Ancestry, 7 Oct 2026. In full: “RICHARD BLACKMER HOLBROOK, a farmer, who died in Bismark North Dakota on August 22, 1923, lived in Pollock (Glenavon area) South Dakota with his wife MAUDE (last name unknown) had two young children, DONALD and DOUGLAS. RICHARD met MAUD in Seattle Washington, she worked in the Seattle Port area in a coffee shop on or near the ferry slips. RICHARD married MAUD then they went to South Dakota to live on a 600 acre wheat farm in the Glenavon area, which was north of Pollock South Dakota. Would like any information on the two children and wife of RICHARD.” Signed “Dan Lowe Holbrook.”

A family account, seventy-five years after the death, by a writer who knew his full name, his widow’s and sons’ names and how they met, but gives August for September. Kathy Jonas, the Clifford descendant who posted this image, says Dan Lowe Holbrook was a son of Phil (Daniel Philip) Holbrook and Alice Duffy, so Richard’s grandson, and believes he wrote the post (message-kathy-jonas-2026); his middle name recalls his great-grandmother, Harriet (Low) Holbrook.
