- 25 May 1890, p. 9 (page): the wedding of Alinda T. Cranney and Frank E. Emple at the Cranney home in Coupeville, Thursday 22 May. Among the gifts: “Mollie Holbrook and Hattie Swift, knife.” Among the guests: “Miss Mollie Holbrook.”
- 18 June 1899, p. 13 (page): the Coupeville column, “Mrs. C. E. [sic] Pfeiffer, of Tacoma, accompanied by Mrs. F. Puget Race, of this place, spent a few days in La Conner as guests of County Superintendent Susan Lord Currier”; the La Conner column on the same page, “Mrs. E. C. Pfeiffer, of Tacoma, w[as] guest of Mrs. O. C. Currier a few day[s the] past week.”
- 10 Dec 1899, p. 14, “Coupeville Society,” dated 9 Dec (page): “Mrs. Mollie Holbrook Pfeiffer, late of Emerson college, Boston, together with her husband, Prof. Pfeiffer, will give an entertainment this week at W. C. T. U. hall.”
- 12 Dec 1899, p. 3 (page): those who passed the November state teachers’ examination, by county; under Pierce, “E. C. Pfeiffer.” Either of them could be meant.
- 26 Aug 1900, p. 10 (page): the arrest of a burglar. Emil is “an employe of the Post-Intelligencer business office.” “On the afternoon of June 3 Pfeiffer’s residence, situated on the corner of Thirty-second avenue and East Union street, was entered and a $10 gold piece taken therefrom. The family was up stairs at the time, and Mrs. Pfeiffer smelt tobacco smoke on the lower floor.”
Hattie Swift lived two doors from the Holbrooks in 1880 (census-1880-island-county-holbrook).
Susan Lord Currier is “the best loved friend of the compiler” in Mollie’s typescript (scan 134).
The burglary was the day after the 1900 census found the family in Seattle’s Third Ward
(census-1900-seattle-pfeiffer).
