Whidbey News-Times, 2016: obituary of Warren Holbrook Carter (1925-2016)

The online obituary of Alice (Pfeiffer) Forrester’s son, read through a web summary on 11 Oct 2026 (not transcribed here; the obituary names living relatives).

• Warren Holbrook Carter was born 8 Sept 1925 at Los Angeles, son of Robert H. Carter and Alice P. Carter Forrester, and died 13 Mar 2016 at Oak Harbor, aged 90.
• His “direct ancestors,” Capt. Richard B. Holbrook and Harriet Low Sylvester Holbrook, settled a donation land claim on Penn Cove in the 1850s. As a boy he spent summers on Penn Cove with his uncle [great-uncle] Horace Holbrook.
• He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 (a destroyer escort at Normandy in June 1944, and the Korean War), retiring in 1963 as a senior chief petty officer, and worked abroad before retiring to Whidbey Island in 1982.
• A graveside memorial was planned for May 2016 at Sunnyside Cemetery, Coupeville.

The obituary does not name his grandmother Mollie (Holbrook) Pfeiffer. His birth date agrees with the Harvard class bulletin of 1935 and with Mollie’s typescript (scan 5).
