  • The stores. “Sold Exclusively by McMillan BROS. DRUGGISTS 949 C St. Fidelity Bldg.” (2 Jan 1909); a branch at 17th or 18th and C in the Carlton Hotel building (19 Aug 1909); “Special Opening Day at Their New Store Corner Thirteenth and C Streets,” “the prettiest drug store in Tacoma” (14 Dec 1910); a soda fountain (30 Mar 1911); “McMillan Brothers Retail DRUGGISTS Wholesale,” 949 and 1301 C St. (4 Dec 1914); “Free Rapid Motorcycle Delivery” (8 Jan 1915); a third store, the old Ryner Malstrom store at 1111 Broadway: “The brothers, E. E. and A. R., already own the McMillan stores at 949 and 1301 Broadway… they have been in business here 10 years” (23 Mar 1915); a phonograph department on a new balcony (26 May 1917).
  • Alfred. “Alfred McMillan (‘Doc’)” (31 Mar 1915); proprietor of the Broadway Drug Co. and a director of the Tacoma Speedway Association (23 Mar 1916); golf at Lakeside and Meadow Park (1916).
  • The liquor case. Lists of liquor shipped to McMillan Bros. (19 Sept 1917); police seized “Whisky, 157 quarts; gin, 18 quarts; alcohol, one barrel” (2 Oct 1917); he “appeared for himself” (8 Oct); the trial put off because he was duck hunting on the La Conner flats: “Whether McMillan got any ducks it did not say” (3 Dec); his testimony that 120 quarts had arrived an hour before the raid, to fill two weeks of prescriptions for the two stores (19 Dec); the jury could not agree (22 Dec 1917); “DROP TRIAL OF M’MILLAN” (25 Jan 1918).
  • Later. McMillan Bros. on a city purchases list (24 May 1941); a camera stolen from the window (24 Sept 1942).
