What it says

The marriage was entered twice: in the Boston register, where it took place, and in the Cambridge returns, because the groom lived in Cambridge. The two entries agree. Both images read by Claude, 11 Oct 2026.

Boston, p. 136, no. 2446 (date of record 18 June 1898):

  • Groom: Emil C. Pfeiffer, of 57 Wendell St., Cambridge; 33; publisher; born Portsmouth, N.H.; parents Joseph S. Pfeiffer and Genovefa Kasche; first marriage.
  • Bride: Mollie F. Holbrook, of Coupeville, Wash.; 27; teacher; born Coupeville, Wash.; parents Richard P. [sic, for B.] Holbrook and Harriet P. Lowe; first marriage.
  • Married by: Charles R. Tenney, minister of the gospel, 28 Glenarm St., Boston.

Cambridge, p. 112, no. 383 (marriages registered in the city of Cambridge, 1898): “Emil Charles Pfeiffer” and “Mollie Frances Holbrook”, married 15 [June] at Boston; residences 57 Wendell St., Cambridge and Coupeville, Wash.; ages 33 and 27; publisher and teacher; the same parents (her father “Richard B.”); the same minister, “Charles R. Tenney, Minister, 28 Glenarm, Boston.”

Glenarm Street is in Dorchester, part of Boston since 1870, so the record fits Mollie’s typescript (“Married at Dorchester, Massachusetts, Glenarm St”): the place is Boston, and the minister’s address is on Glenarm Street. Where in Boston the ceremony was held, the record does not say. The FamilySearch index that gives Cambridge as the place of marriage is indexing the Cambridge copy.
