An online index with short abstracts of the Hancock County Court of Sessions records. Seven entries name James Ginn. Record 22, September 1791: “Commonwealth vs. James Ginn of Township 2 for building a dam across Easton River and neglecting a fishway.” Township 2 is Orland, where he ran Robert Treat’s mill. None of the Ginn entries mentions enslaved people or a manumission.
