The biographical card, handwritten, stamped Oct 1910 and later stamped “DEAD June 29, 1920”: “Ellingwood, Finley. (1) Manchester, Ind., Sept. 12, ’52. (2) Kankakee City and High School. (3) Ill. 8 ’78 [?]. (4) Ill. 1878.” Addresses 2209 Central St., Evanston; Chicago; Evanston. “Ill. State Eclectic, Sec’y of Nat. Eclectic for 5 [years]. Editor Chicago Medical Times, Author of ‘Manual of Analysis of Urine’, ‘Ellingwood Materia Medica and Therapeutics’, ‘Ellingwood Practice’ in preparation. Ill. State Soc., Hon. mem. of Eclectic State Soc. of Ind., Ohio, Mich., Ky., Ga., Ark., Okla.” (continued over).
The death card, typed (JAMA vol. 75, p. 121): “Finley Ellingwood, Chicago; Bennett College of Eclectic Medicine and Surgery, Chicago, 1878; aged 68; professor of chemistry from 1884 to 1900, and of materia medica and therapeutics from 1900 to 1907 in his alma mater; editor of the Chicago Medical Times from 1884 to 1906; author of several textbooks on eclectic materia medica and therapeutics; died at Pasadena, Calif., June 29, from chronic interstitial nephritis.” His death certificate gives 26 June.
