- Thomas Robson Pattullo, memorial 95013895, Barkerville Historic Cemetery, plot 146. Born 16 Dec
1837, Caledon; died 8 Jan 1879, Barkerville, aged 41. “B. C. Death Registration #1879-09-234350,
microfilm B1311r, lists name as Thomas R. Pattulla. Date of death Jan. 8, 1879 in Barkerville
District, age 38.” Three photographs: an oval portrait engraving (Anne Montague), his gravestone
(Sheryl Walker;
gravestone-thomas-robson-pattullo-1879), and a page of a printed book (Geraldine Sookorukoff, 2023): “PATTULLO, Thomas H. a native of Ontario and an early pioneer of British Columbia. Born Dec. 16, 1837. Died Jan. 3, 1879. A ‘before the fire’ resident of Barkerville. In the April 6, 1872 issue of the Sentinel it is recorded that Mr. Pattullo raised $615 to permit a miner, stricken with an attack of consumption, to leave the Cariboo. The paper stated ‘too much praise cannot be given to Mr. Pattullo for his exertions in aid of the sick and needy….’ He is said to have taken an active part in organizing baseball in B.C., as early as 1864. He was an uncle of Thomas Duff Pattullo, premier of B.C. from 1933 to 1941.” The book is not named. - George Robson Pattullo, memorial 125521703, Woodstock Presbyterian Cemetery. Born 8 Apr 1845, Caledon; died 23 Apr 1922, Woodstock, aged 77. Parents: Halket Pattullo (1809-1865, as the site has it) and Jane Robson Pattullo (1809-1879). Spouses: Mary “Minnie” Rounds Pattullo, 1850-1884 (m. 1868), and Frances Camilla Biggar Pattullo, 1850-1913 (m. 1888). Children include Ethelwyn Eliza Pattullo Ballantyne (1868-1965). A sepia studio portrait of him, bearded (Anne Montague), and the family stone: “IN LOVING MEMORY OF / MARY ROUNDS / WIFE OF / GEORGE R. PATTULLO / BORN 1850 - DIED 1884 / GEORGE ROBSON PATTULLO / BORN 1845 - DIED 1922 / FRANCES CAMILLA BIGGAR / HIS WIFE / 1850 - 1913.”
- Thomas Dufferin “Duff” Pattullo, memorial 6385 (a famous memorial), Royal Oak Burial Park,
Victoria, Garden of Remembrance C-6. Born 19 Jan 1873, Woodstock; died 30 Mar 1956, Victoria, aged
83. Its main photograph (Nils M. Solsvik Jr.) is the portrait in the Gallery as
duff-pattullo-young; a flat marker reads “HON. T. D. PATTULLO 1873-1956.” - George Robson Pattullo (the writer), memorial 158718681, Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park,
Dallas, Hillcrest Mausoleum, Sanctuary of Psalms NE-D-5-B. Born 9 Oct 1879, Woodstock; died 29 Jul
1967, New York, aged 87. Its main photograph (Anne Montague) is the window portrait in the Gallery
as
george-pattullo-writer; the crypt front reads “GEORGE R. PATTULLO 1879 1967.” The memorial carries his obituary from the Dallas Morning News of 30 Jul 1967, p. 17. A passport-style photograph signed “Lucile W. Pattullo,” his wife, is on the site too.
What it shows: the writer was George Robson Pattullo like his father, which is why the window portrait and the Dallas obituary came as “George Robson Pattullo.” Thomas Robson Pattullo died on 8 January 1879, as his gravestone and his death registration have it; the book’s “Jan. 3” is a misprint or misreading.
