What it says
Compiled genealogy. Abstracts the Plymouth probate: the widow “Ursilla” Macomber gave an administration bond on 6 June 1670. Says the attachment of the daughters to William Macomber’s family is “an almost necessary inference”. Explains the Peregrine White legend: a later William Macomber (1746-1815) “married, 15 Oct. 1764, Ruth, dau. of Cornelius and Sarah (Ford) White, fifth in descent from Peregrine White”.
Also: “A sworn statement, made March 1, 1655, gives his age as 45 years” (p. 89), for William Macomber’s birth about 1610; “Aug. 20, 1644, William Maycumber of Duxborrow sent forth to bring in John Macomber for non-appearance for making allarum at Taunton”; William a surveyor at Marshfield in 1653.
