What it says
Oberlin’s catalogue of everyone who had studied there. Found 10 Oct 2026.
- p. 467: “Holbrook, … Frances (Mrs. Charles E. Pfeiffer); enr. ’93-’94 p. t., ’94-’95 acad.; fr. Boston, Mass. Addr. Boston, Mass.” In the catalogue’s key, “p. t.” is the Course in Physical Training and “acad.” the Academy.
- p. 1149, the index of married names: “Pfeiffer, Frances Holbrook.”
The Oberlin alumni register of 1960 repeats “Pfeiffer, Mrs. Charles E. (Frances Holbrook).”
A possible match only. For her: the name Frances Holbrook, a husband Pfeiffer, a Boston
address, and the years 1893-95, just before she entered Emerson College in 1895
(catalogues-emerson-college-1895-1898). Against her: the husband is “Charles E.,” where hers was
Emil Charles (E. C.), and she came “fr. Boston,” where Emerson’s catalogues give Whidby Island.
Oberlin’s annual catalogues for 1893-94 and 1894-95, which would give her home town, are restricted
on the Internet Archive.
