What it says
Pamphlets by William Gilman Low on the origin of Thomas Low of Ipswich, read in the archive.org full text (No. 2 at https://archive.org/details/genealogicalques01loww). Abstracts Thomas Low’s deposition of 25 Sept 1660, “aged about 55” (Essex Court Files 5:80), and the English entries: “Thos. Lowe & Margaret Tod married 22 June 1630” (Polstead); Thomas, son of Thomas and Margaret Lowe, bp. 8 May 1631 (Groton); John, son of Thomas and Margaret, bp. 2 Mar 1633 (Boxford, Suffolk). He and V. B. Redstone call the identification with the Ipswich man “a probability.” He found the story that Thomas was a son of Capt. John Lowe of the Ambrose “probably not” so.
His “d. before 1736” for Sgt. David Low is wrong.
No. 2 also quotes the Ipswich town grant “to Thomas Low, ten acres of upland at Chebacco, next his ten acres there, in exchange for ten acres due to him by grant unto Mr. Rogers company near the three miles brook by Mr. Appleton’s farme,” and Winthrop’s Journal on the arrival of Rogers’s company in November 1636, two ships “full of passengers” whose “beer all spent and leaked out a month before their arrival.” Redstone’s notes add a Boxford, Suffolk, baptism of “Margaret, daughter of John & Margaret Lowe,” 17 June 1632, where “John” is probably a copying mistake (the rector), and that John Choate of Chebacco was baptized at Groton on 6 June 1624.
