What it says

Read in the archive.org full text for the Hatten research (research/hatten/Browne_Chapin_Cumins.md, October 2026). The tables of the General Assembly scan badly; Israel Converse’s name appears in them, but the years and town could not be read with confidence.

  • Probate, Randolph District: “The first Judge was Elijah Paine, of Williamstown, appointed in 1789 … no record is left of his having done any Probate business … The first case on the records is that of Ezra Dudley, of Roxbury, June 15, 1792, while Israel Converse was Judge, who was of course appointed in 1791, and held the office till Aaron Storrs was appointed in 1796, and James Converse was Register from 1792 to 1796.”
