What it says
A bound register across two pages, with no column for the child’s name. Read from the image by Claude, 11 Oct 2026. The right-hand page sits one ruled line higher than the left, so each entry’s second half is on the line above; the filing dates (each after its birth) confirm the reading.

FamilySearch’s index to a further county register (1:1:DC2X-G9N2, image 3:1:3Q9M-CSR8-29VJ-T, not
seen) names the child “Alice Phillips,” with parents “Ernst Charles Pfeiffer” and “Francis
Holbook,” born 25 Aug 1899. The Emerson College Magazine’s notice of the birth (“a twelve-pound
daughter”) and the Harvard class reports name her Alice Phillips
(magazine-emerson-college-holbrook-1896-1904, reports-harvard-class-1889-pfeiffer); the
Harvard obituary of 1935 has “August 24.”
