Encyclopedia article on the New York merchant Abiel Abbot Low (1811-1893), father of Seth Low, mayor of New York and president of Columbia. It gives his descent from the Lows of Chebacco: “His paternal grandparents were Hannah (née Haskell) Low and David Low (a son of David and Abigail (née Choate) Low).” With the Ipswich records and Merriam (pp. 18-22) this carries Seth Low’s line back to Sgt.
