Notes
William Flyn, 60, a “reduced farmer” of Mallow, Co. Cork, came out from Cove of Cork on the
Brunswick in May 1825 with John, 24, Daniel, 20, Mary, 16, Johanna, 13, and Nancy, 11, among the
Peter Robinson settlers (source). On 24 November 1825 he
was located on the north half of lot 11, concession 10, Emily Township, beside John on the south
half and near Daniel on concession 9 (source). He
died in Emily about a year after he arrived: 12 September 1826 on the Robinson list, 12 October in
the Ancestry tree. In January 1846 John Flynn of Emily took over his half-lot through the Heir and
Devisee Commission, and the Crown grant issued in William’s name that August. That John, husband of
Ann Murray, is very probably his son (research/dwyer/Flynns_of_Emily_Township.md).
His birth year, 1765, fits his age on the list. His mother, “Marga Driscol,” is as the Ancestry tree has her.
