Notes

Brother of Katherine (Tupper) Nye. Captain and Sandwich town clerk; as clerk he entered his father’s death in 1676. Kardell holds that he, not his father, was the first Tupper missionary to the Indians. His son Eldad (b. last day of May 1675) was later pastor of the Indian church. His will, proved 20 May 1706, was witnessed by “Mathias Ellis Senr” and William Bassett.
