Sybil Sawdy
Probably the wife of Walter Allee, and possibly the mother of Albert E. Allee, who married Lucinda Sargent. They lived in Cayuga and Ontario counties, New York, then at Springfield, Erie County, Pennsylvania, and from about 1838 in Ashtabula County, Ohio, where she was remembered as the only woman in Jefferson who ever shot a bear. She took typhoid in 1862 and died at Lenox Center that September.

Family
- Father
- Silas William Sawdy
Born 1766 at Tiverton, Rhode Island; died 1810 at Scipio, Cayuga County, N.Y. (the tree's own GEDCOM and WikiTree; the place "Tiverton" for both is a slip). No record seen names him as her father; she lived at Scipio before her marriage and named a son Silas. Not yet imported.
compiledpossible - Mother
- Sarah Soule
1767 - 10 Aug 1801, Tiverton, as the tree has her, but a Sarah Sawdey was living in 1807, named in her father Jacob Soule's will. The Mayflower Society's Soule volume (2003) marries Jacob's daughter Sarah to a William Sawdey, not to Silas. Doubtful; see the open questions. Not yet imported.

Notes
Wife of Walter Allee. They lived in Cayuga and Ontario counties, New York, then about 1836 at Springfield, Erie County, Pennsylvania, where her Sawdy kin lived, and from about 1838 at Jefferson and Lenox, Ashtabula County, Ohio. The women of the Western Reserve remembered her: “Sybill Sawdy, who came to Jefferson from Springfield, Pa., at an early day, was the wife of Walter Allee, who built the first house on the Bunnell farm. She has the distinction of being the only woman in Jefferson who ever shot a bear” (source). She and Walter both took typhoid in the autumn of 1862, and she died on 2 September.

Open questions
- Her mother. The tree makes her Sarah Soule, daughter of Jacob Soule of Tiverton, which would bring a Mayflower descent from George Soule. Jacob’s will (1807) does name a daughter “Sarah Sawdey,” but no record names Sybil’s parents, the Mayflower Society’s volume gives Jacob’s Sarah a husband William Sawdey, and the tree’s death of 1801 cannot be right if Sarah was living in 1807. Jane Fletcher Fiske’s “The Sawdy Family of Boston, Rhode Island, and Points West” (NEHGR 148, 1994) should settle it.
