Notes

Mariner of Plymouth; first husband of Nancy Ellis (intention 1801, “Richard BLACKMER & Nancy ELLIS both of Plymouth”). In 1804-05 a mariner and part-owner of land and a pew with James Harlow Jr. With Nancy he acknowledged her family’s quitclaim on 17 Jan 1806.

He died intestate by February 1808, “late of Plymouth, Mariner.” His estate (about 7 acres with a house and small barn, 4 acres of pasture and 28 of woodland, $600; personal estate $124.59) was insolvent. Nancy bought back part of the homestead from the administrator, Dr. Josiah Sturtevant, in 1810.

His name came down in the family: Nancy’s son by her second husband was Capt. Richard Blackmer Holbrook.
