The lots on the Sunset Highway, Spokane
About it
Two prints of the Sunset Highway at Spokane, with a roadside house and a billboard on the rise beside it (page 1), and their backs (page 2), each numbered 5: “Party on lots on Sunset Highway. This part sold to a Texan” and “our lots on Sunset Highway (#10) by state weighing station.”
Cudge Ellingwood took the lots in trade for the old truck of his move west. In 1944 he bought the rest of the block at a sale for the heirs of its owners and sold the part a sergeant from Texas wanted for a motel; a few years later the state highway department, which had put a weighing station beside them, bought the rest (his memoir, scans 136-137).
