The deposition on Abraham Collins's blood and parentage, 1856 (a transcript)
About it
The first page of a transcript of a deposition taken before a Morgan County justice of the peace on 20 October 1856 “to establish blood & parentage of Abraham Collins,” aged 63. The witness traces his father’s line to a great-grandfather of part African blood, proven in a Virginia court, and says his mother “was a Reed and of Portugees extraction” and a sister of John and James Reed, late of Morgan County. The foot of the page is cut off in the screenshot.
