The Republican paper of Olympia printed the resolutions the House of the ninth session had voted down, with the vote, and printed them again on 17 May and 7 June 1862. Read 14 Oct 2026 in the Library of Congress's scan of the page.
Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Washington, That the Union is so incorporated with the institutions of our country, that its dissolution would endanger their permanency, and seriously threaten our existence as a nation.
Resolved, That all sectional divisions can be better healed within the Union than without the Union, and that all pretexts for a dissolution of the Union are unwarrantable.
Resolved, That the alacrity with which the people rush to the rescue of the Union shows them worthy of their lineage and their birthright, and makes us, the most distant limb of the Union, forever their debtor.
Resolved, That Washington Territory, true to herself, and true to the Government, will not be found wanting in devotion to the Union, in fidelity to the Laws and Constitution, or in due respect for, and support of Mr. Lincoln's administration, which the popular voice has called to maintain the one and enforce the other.
Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be sent to our Delegate in Congress, Hon. W. H. Wallace.
"VOTE ON THE RESOLUTIONS. Yeas--Denny, Griswold, Lombard, McCall, Smith of Clark, Taylor, Urquhart, Cock--8. Nays--Aird, Bozarth, Bates, Beatty, Chapman, Gardner, Gilliam, Hinckley, Holbrook, Page, Settle, Smith of Walla Walla, Ruth, Thornton, Wilson, Warbass--16."
