  • Mary Lyall Jeffrey, memorial 138158851, Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough. Born 4 May 1774, Scotland; died 6 May 1857, aged 83. Spouse: William Jeffrey, 1772-1852 ("m. 1799"). Children: Andrew Jeffrey (1800-1863), William Jeffrey (1802-1879), Catharine "Addie" Jeffrey Hall (1806-1882) and Mary Jeffrey Short (1809-1883), the whole list (a later screenshot). Three photographs: the monument and its panel (Mardelle Monroe, 19 May 2026, captioned "Mary Edna LYALL Isabella HALL gravestone"; The Silent Forgotten); see Monument of Mary Lyall, wife of William Jeffrey, and Isabella Hall, Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, Ontario.
  • William Jeffrey, memorial 181755195, St. Paul's Presbyterian Cemetery, Linton, King Township, York Region. Born 2 Oct 1802, Scotland; died 3 Apr 1879, aged 76. Parents: William Jeffrey (1772-1852) and Mary Lyall Jeffrey (1774-1857). Spouse: Mary Wilkie Jeffrey, 1820-1904 (m. 1842). His stone: "WILLIAM JEFFREY / 1802 - 1879 / MARY WILKIE HIS WIFE / 1820 - 1904 / CHRISTINA THEIR DAUGHTER / 1849 - 1867 / JOHN JEFFREY / 1852 - 1926," the base lettered JEFFREY (photographs by Chichikov and Rev Sue; one of them is in the Gallery as gravestone-william-jeffrey-1879).
  • Mary Jeffrey Short, memorial 223484854, Woodstock Presbyterian Cemetery. Born 8 Jan 1809, Scotland; died 1 Nov 1883, Woodstock, aged 74. Parents: William Jeffrey and Mary Lyall Jeffrey. Spouse: John Short, 1808-1858 (m. 1836). Children: Jane Short (1836-1909), and more. Its photograph (L. C.) is the Short family stone, Gravestone of John Short (1808-1858), Mary (Jeffrey) Short and their daughter Jane, which stands in this cemetery.
  • Hon. Andrew Jeffrey, memorial 186308963, Cobourg Union Cemetery. His stone: "IN MEMORIAM / HON. ANDREW JEFFREY / BORN AT / FOULDEN, SCOTLAND / FEB. 17TH 1800 / DIED JULY 27TH 1863 / HIS WIFE / JANET HALL / BORN 1799 / DIED 1851" (photograph by USCRx). Parents: William Jeffrey and Mary Lyall Jeffrey. Spouses: Janet Hall Jeffrey, 1799-1851 (m. 1828); Agnes Moscrip McLenhan Jeffrey, 1819-1876 (m. 1853). Siblings: William (1802-1879), Catharine "Addie" Jeffrey Hall (1806-1882), Mary Jeffrey Short (1809-1883). Child: Francis Jeffrey (1839-1910).
  • Catharine Hall, memorial 138158057, Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough. Inscription: "In Memorium of Adam Hall died Oct 4 1881 aged 77 years also Catharine Jeffrey wife of the above died Feb 26 1882 aged 75 years" (photographs by The Silent Forgotten: the panel, and the obelisk it stands on). Parents William Jeffrey and Mary Lyall Jeffrey; spouse Adam Hall Sr (1804-1881, m. 1832); siblings Andrew, William, Mary Jeffrey Short. Children: William Hall Sr (1835-1921), Isabella Hall (1836-1922), Christiana Hall (1836-1855), Thomas Hall (1840-1918), Andrew Jeffrey Hall (1842-1924), Agnes Jane Hall Ferguson (1844-1926), Adam Hall II (1846-1920), Robert Hall (1849-1923), and perhaps more below the screenshot's edge.
  • William Jeffrey (1772-1852), the husband, has a memorial with no photograph. Its gravesite note: "Mary Edna Lyall's entry on this obelisk states 'wife of' William Jeffrey. However, there is no evidence that William is actually buried in this cemetery and he is certainly not among those interred in this plot."
  • Andrew Jeffrey, memorial 195119208, Chirnside Parish Churchyard, Berwickshire. Born 9 Dec 1734, Fogo; died 12 Feb 1810, Chirnside, aged 75. No photograph. Inscription, as transcribed: "Ceatherine Steel spouse to Andreu Jafery 19.3.1776 40 yrs. Andrew Jeffery smith and feuer in Chirnside 12.2.1810 76 yrs. son Peter Jeffrey 1811 49 yrs." No family links are shown in the screenshot.

What it adds:

  • Foulden, on a stone. Andrew Jeffrey, mayor of Cobourg and Mary (Jeffrey) Short's brother, was "born at Foulden, Scotland" in 1800, as the family accounts say all the children were.
  • More of William and Mary's children: a son William (1802-1879) of King Township and a daughter Catharine "Addie" (1806-1882), Mrs. Hall. A second son contradicts John Graham's "one boy and four girls" (Skinner). Find a Grave's links are compiled, but William's dates, Scottish birth and Presbyterian burial fit.
  • Mary Lyall's monument is the Halls' monument. Catharine Jeffrey (Mrs. Adam Hall) and her husband are on one face, Mary Lyall "wife of William Jeffrey" and Isabella Hall, "dau. of Adam & Catharine Hall," on another: a stone that ties Mary Lyall to Catharine Jeffrey as mother and daughter in all but words. Andrew Jeffrey's first wife was a Janet Hall (1799-1851), very possibly Adam Hall's sister.
  • The family's names tie Mary (Jeffrey) Short to the Lyalls and the Halls [I]: her grandson Thomas Lyall Hay (b. 1879, son of Isabella Short) and her grandchildren William Hall Short (b. 1877) and Mary Jeffrey Short (b. 1875), children of Joseph William Short (Find a Grave memorials of the Short family: John Short and his children, and John G. and Mary (Pattullo) Short at Spokane).
  • Andrew Jeffery, smith and feuar in Chirnside (1734-1810), with his wife Catherine Steel and their son Peter (b. about 1762): a smith, a few miles from Foulden, of the right age to be the father of William Jeffrey the blacksmith (b. 1772). Nothing on the stone names William; the link the FamilySearch tree makes is still unproven.
