A compiled town history that prints Rowley's war papers of 1675-76 in full. Read in the archive.org full text (https://archive.org/details/historyofrowleya00gage/page/181/mode/1up).
Cited for King Philip's War (research/king-philips-war/):
- Rowley's impressment return of 29 Nov 1675: "This may certifie that we have impress'd twelve men ... only some of them are men that are but latly come to town, and want arms ... John Hobkinson, John Stickney, Joseph Jewett, Thomas Palmer, John Jackson, Steuen Mighill, John Lighton, Caleb Jackson, William Brown, Samuel Tiller, Joseph Bixbie, Simon Gawin ... by me, Samuel Brocklebank, Capt." (pp. 181-182). "Latly come to town" fits the Tylers, newly fled from Mendon.
- Capt. Samuel Brocklebank's letters: his men in service "since the first of January at Narraganset, and within one week after their returne were sent out again" to Marlborough (pp. 182-183); the raid on Marlborough of 26 Mar 1676, "sixteen dwelling-houses, besides about thirteen barns" burned (p. 183).
