Local history, read in the archive.org full text. Calls Robert Lord town clerk and clerk of the court, says he "appears to have been son of Widow Catharine Lord," and gives his son Robert the marshal's marriage to Hannah Day.
For King Philip's War (research/king-philips-war/), pp. 146-148: the order of 11 Oct 1676, "Of seventy
soldiers, as the quota of Essex, for an expedition to the eastward" (p. 147), the kind of levy by which John
Ellinwood was "Imprest & sent to ye Eastward"; and, under the same date, "John Cogswell, jr., is a prisoner
among the Indians" (p. 147), which is wrong: the General Court's record of Oct 1676 shows him in prison for
the costs of his suit (MBR 5:126).
