Brother of Edmund Freeman of Sandwich. "Of Ratcliffe in the parish of Stepney" in 1630 (WSRO Add Mss 4118); "William Freeman of Cowfold, esq." by 1655, probably a Commonwealth JP. His first wife, Christian Hodsoll, was a sister of Edmund's wife Bennett; their marriage settlement of 20 July 1620 was made by his father. Edmund sued him in Chancery in 1633/4 over the Hodsoll lands. An executor, with John Gratwicke, of his brother-in-law John Hodsoll the younger (1628).
