Of Salisbury, "house-carpenter." He received land at Salisbury in the "first division" and in 1640, and was on the 1650 list of "townsmen and commoners" (Hoyt I:31). He sat on the grand jury at the court held at Salisbury on 10 Apr 1666, with Lt. Challis as foreman (EQC 3:315). He made his will "in Boston" on Apr. 16, 1674 (Hoyt I:31).
King Philip's War. Two of his sons perhaps served. His son John (b. 1648), who had married the widow Mary (Pike) Andros in 1674, may be the John Allen who "served under Capt. Turner, April, 1676," and his son Richard (b. 1655), who died unmarried in 1678, the Richard Allin "of Hv. [Haverhill]" who "served in King Philip's War, under Lieut. Benj. Swett, June, 1676" (Hoyt, 1:31-32). William added a codicil to his will on Nov. 7, 1676.
About 1684 he married (2) Alice, widow of John Roper and of John Dickison. He died at Salisbury on 18 June 1686, his will was proved on July 22, and Alice died on 1 Apr 1687 (Hoyt I:31).
