Goldsmith, of Boston. His trust deed of 9 Mar 1699/1700 (Suffolk Deeds 21:150-152) calls him "Samuel Foster, goldsmith, son of Hopestill Foster of Boston, soapboiler, deceased." It was made "for love of now wife Rebecca, daughter of my father-in-law Joseph Brisco, and also love of only child Rebecca"; in NEHGR 178's abstract, "for the love and affection for his wife Rebecca ... and for his only child Rebecca," he quitclaimed all his property to his father-in-law, Joseph Brisco of Boston, baker, "as feoffee in trust." That daughter, Rebecca, was born 10 Apr 1699 (RC 9), and married John Best, tanner, on 15 Dec 1721, "by Dr. Cotton Mather" (NEHGR 178:35, citing the Boston marriages). His son Samuel was born after the deed, on 25 June 1701, and he died on 10 Mar 1702, aged 25 (NEHGR 178:34).
