- Probably the "Mary, wife of Nicholas, buried Sept. 9, 1690" (inference). Their son John was born 27 Aug 1690.
Son of Nicholas Ide, born at Rehoboth in November 1654.
King Philip's War. In the summer of 1676, at twenty-one, Nicholas probably served under Maj. William Bradford, whose force of "one hundred and fifty English and fifty Indians" was "protecting the southern towns and capturing the wandering parties" (Soldiers in King Philip's War, p. 464). Rehoboth's list of "Those who served under Major Bradford" includes "Nicholas Ide," with Thomas and Israel Read (Bliss, History of Rehoboth, p. 117). His brother John had been in the Narragansett expedition; their mother was buried on 3 Nov 1676 and John in December (Rehoboth VR p. 900).
On 27 Dec 1677 he married Mary Ormsby. Their son John was born on 27 Aug 1690, and Mary was very probably the "Mary, wife of Nicholas," buried on 9 Sept 1690, a burial Mollie Pfeiffer's typescript took for his mother's.
