- Banfield's will of 8 Apr 1747 names "Mary Tiler" (WikiTree, citing Bristol Probate 13:258-261). The will itself has not been seen.
Wife of Capt. Samuel Tyler of Attleborough. Holden lists her as the eighth of Banfield Capron's twelve children, without saying which of his wives was her mother.
Her mother was probably Banfield's first wife (inference). In 1817 a grandson, Abiel Brown, said Banfield "lived with his first wife fifty-two years after they were married" (Holden, pp. 7-10); Daggett and Savage give the death of his wife Elizabeth as 10 Mar 1735; and his recorded children were born from 1684 to 1709. Mary, born about 1696, falls within that marriage. Who the first wife was is still open (see below and her father's page).
Open questions
- Who was her mother? Banfield Capron's wives are given as a daughter of Callender (the 1817 family account, no first name), Elizabeth Callender (Mollie Pfeiffer and modern trees), and Elizabeth Blackington (Holden, as his second wife). Which of them was living about 1696 is not known. Abiel Brown's "fifty-two years" with the first wife points to one long first marriage ending in 1735, which would make the first wife her mother, whatever her name.
