- "John Procter 3" sailed with his parents in 1635; his father's will of 1672 made him an executor with his brothers Joseph and Benjamin; in 1679 his brother-in-law Thomas Varney heard "Joseph say to John" at "the house which was formerly his father Procter's" (Essex Quarterly Courts 7:218); and the Ipswich petition of 1692 says he was "of Religious Parents in o'r place."

Hanged at Salem as a witch, 19 Aug 1692; brother of Abigail (Proctor) Varney. Thirty-one Ipswich neighbors petitioned for him and his wife Elizabeth in August 1692, among them "Tho. Low Sanor," "Thomas Varny" and "Jno Wise." The Ipswich death "Martha, w. John, June 13, 1659" most likely belongs to his first wife.
